Milk Replacer Feeding Guidelines for Multi-species

MaxCare Essential Calf Milk Replacer and MaxCare Lamb & Kid Milk Replacer are suitable for multi-species and can be fed to horses or other equines, dogs, cats, llama, alpaca, fawns, pigs or other animals.

Pups | Mixing Rate 180g/L

  • Pups should receive 20% of their body weight in colostrum in the first 24 hours.
  • Split daily milk volume into 4 hourly feeds.
  • Reduce feedings to 4 daily feeds by week 4. After 4 weeks begin mixing puppy food with milk replacer.
  • Gradually increase the portion of puppy food until the puppy is on solid food.

  • Wean from six weeks of age when eating sufficient solid food and forage.
  • For best results switch to MaxCare Lamb & Kid Milk Replacer.

Crias: Alpaca & Llama | Mixing Rate 180g/L

  • Crias should receive 10% of their body weight in colostrum in the first 24 hours.
  • Split milk volume into 6 daily feeds for the first 1-2 weeks; reduce to 4 daily feeds by 4 weeks, then to 3 daily feeds until weaned.
  • Wean 4-6 months of age provided cria has adjusted to good quality forage.
